Wytheville - Black Lick - Rural Retreat - New Hope - Max Meadows - Piney - Ivanhoe - Driving Tour Home
Max Meadows
10.7 miles from Wytheville
From Wytheville, take I-81 north to Exit 80. Turn left off exit ramp onto Max Meadows Drive. Max Meadows is approximately 2 miles from the Exit.
Max Meadows was first settled in the mid-1700's and was designed
by industrialists to be a boom town. Iron was found in the area
and the iron works were sold to Virginia Iron, Coal & Coke
Company. This brought good jobs to the area. After it closed in
1904, most residents began to seek employment outside of the community.
