New River Trail Challenge Triathlon

We regret to announce that the 2020 New River Trail Challenge has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are unable to guarantee the safety of you and our staff while presenting the quality event that we’ve enjoyed in the past. We’ll be reaching out to everyone who has registered with the choice of a refund or application of funds to the 2021 event. The challenge begins with a 40-mile out-and-back bike ride, followed by a 12-mile down-river kayak paddle, and finishes with a 13.1-mile run on a rail-to-trail crushed surface. It takes place along southwestern Virginia’s New River Trail State Park. Participants may compete solo or in teams of two or three. The race attracts athletes of all fitness levels competing in various age groups and categories, from hardcore solo competitors to “bucket-listers” of all ages. Food and local craft beer will be available for purchase during and after the race for spectators and participants.
