FISHING IN WYTHEVILLE

Wytheville and Wythe County boasts an abundance of fishing opportunities, from streams and rivers to a 90-acre lake teaming with a variety of fish. The experienced fisherman can find a challenge trying to catch the illusive Brook Trout in Dry Run Creek and the novice can get a thrill catching large Rainbow and Brown Trout at one of the stocked trout streams. In addition to the excellent fishing in Cripple Creek, there are several private sections along the stream that offer anglers the opportunity to catch trophy trout weighing in at 2 lbs. and over; there is a fee to fish and reservations are required. Nearby to the private section of stream, you will find the Cripple Creek Sportsman’s Lodge, which provides great vacation accommodations. The scenic and historic New River traverses the county with numerous easy access points and boat launches including the New River Trail State Park and Foster Falls. Fishermen can rent a canoe or kayak from the livery and float the river to fish or simply access it from the easy to walk trail that parallels the river. From clear mountain streams to the impressive New River, Wytheville is the ideal place to start your next fishing adventure!
